Coastal Flood Advisory issued October 8 at 1:10PM PDT until October 13 at 2:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
* WHAT...Minor to moderate coastal flooding expected, with isolated significant flooding possible especially on Sunday. Elevated surf and dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 2 PM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Moderate flooding of sea water is likely over some vulnerable low-lying coastal areas, especially around the time of high tide, including over beach parking lots, bike paths, and harbor walkways. Moderate to significant beach erosion is likely. Isolated damage is possible in most vulnerable areas, such as the Alamitos Peninsula in Long Beach. There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The greatest risk for coastal flooding is on Sunday, when extreme tides, large waves, and strong winds could all peak together. A targeted Coastal Flood Warning may be considered if future guidance increases the chance of an extreme scenario. High tides of 7.0 to 7.6 feet will be common each morning, with large secondary high tides in the evening hours.
Temporary Closure of Main Entrance at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa
Starting August 25, the main entrance to Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa will be closed for gate installation, but the area and hiking trails remain open with alternative parking at Wendy Trailhead. Entrance will reopen on August 28.

La Jolla Group Camp provides group camping within Point Mugu State Park, located along the far western edge of the Santa Monica Mountains where rugged terrain meets the Pacific Ocean. This walk-in, tent-only site accommodates groups of 9 to 50 people and is ideal for organized outings, scout troops, or large family gatherings seeking coastal camping without RV facilities. The park encompasses five miles of ocean shoreline with rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, and sand dunes, plus two major river canyons and wide grassy valleys. Over 70 miles of hiking trails wind through the backcountry, though dogs are prohibited on trails. Campers check in and collect vehicle tags at Thornhill Broome Campground before proceeding to the group site. Reservations are made through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance. The campground operates year-round, though fire restrictions may apply seasonally. Token-operated showers are available in the campground area and accept only one-dollar bills.
Directions
From Oxnard, head south on Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) for approximately 15 miles. Enter Point Mugu State Park at the Sycamore Canyon Campground entrance, located 4 miles west of the Ventura County line. Check in at Thornhill Broome Campground to collect vehicle tags before proceeding to La Jolla Group Camp.
