About
Creek Campground is located within Malibu Creek State Park, a 4,000-acre preserve in the Santa Monica Mountains that served as a 20th Century Fox movie ranch. The campground offers both tent-only and RV-accessible sites in a scenic setting surrounded by chaparral-covered slopes and oak woodlands. Campers can explore 15 miles of trails along Malibu Creek, leading to volcanic rock gorges, Century Lake, and the iconic M*A*S*H television show filming site. The park features diverse recreational opportunities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, swimming in natural rock pools, and wildlife viewing. The campground is situated about 4 miles south of Highway 101 on Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road, offering convenient access while maintaining a secluded mountain atmosphere. Historical features include the Chumash Native American heritage sites and remnants of early California ranch history. Park gates are open from 8am to 10pm daily, and the campground provides restrooms with token-operated showers, drinking water, and an RV dump station. Reservations are available through ReserveCalifornia, with some sites participating in the monthly lottery-style Reservation Draw program.
Directions
From Highway 101, exit at Las Virgenes Road and head south toward the ocean. Continue for 4 miles; the park entrance will be on the right, shortly past the Mulholland Drive intersection.
