This is a day-use shelter/pavilion only with no overnight camping available. The park operates year-round from 7 AM to 10 PM daily. The covered pavilion requires advance reservations through Dawson County Recreation. Federal holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

AQAFFC The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division has issued a Code Orange (Unhealthy for sensitive groups) Air Quality Alert for Atlanta for Thursday July 2. Under Code Orange conditions, the outdoor air quality is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone, and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest. About

Thompson Creek Park Shelter is a group picnic pavilion located approximately 30 miles north of Buford Dam on Lake Sidney Lanier in Dawson County, Georgia. This is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping permitted. The covered shelter is available for advance reservation and is popular for group gatherings and events. The park offers beautiful views of Lake Lanier and provides access to multiple recreational activities including fishing, swimming, wakeboarding, kayaking, and hiking via the nearby Laurel Ridge Hiking Trail (a 3.5-mile loop). Facilities include restrooms, picnic areas, a courtesy dock, and three boat ramps. Alcohol, fireworks, amplified live music, and P.A. systems are prohibited. Thompson Creek Park is co-managed by Dawson County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lake Sidney Lanier project. Day-use areas and boat ramps operate year-round from 7 AM to 10 PM. Pavilion rentals are $60 for Dawson County residents or $160 for non-residents for a five-hour period. Reservations are handled through Dawson County Recreation.
