Arkabutla Lake

Bayou Point Day Use

Closed

Currently closed. Arkabutla Lake is experiencing substantially lower water levels during extended dam repairs. Most boat ramps are closed; Highway 51 Landing is the only open ramp. This is a day-use facility with group pavilion rentals, not an overnight campground.

From Recreation.gov

Arkabutla Lake will be experiencing substantially lower water levels for an extended period of time. Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. Many boat ramps are currently closed with Hwy. 51 Landing being the only open ramp. Most day use and campground facilities remain open for public use. For more information, please contact the Arkabutla Lake Field Office at 662-562-6261 or 662-292-1992. About

Bayou Point Day Use Area is located on Scenic Loop 304 near the entrance to Arkabutla Dam in northwest Mississippi. The facility offers group pavilions for rental near the waterfront, set among rolling hills covered with oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum, and birch trees. The dam project on the Coldwater River provides access to Arkabutla Lake, known for some of the best sailing east of the Mississippi River. This is a day-use facility with group shelter rentals rather than a traditional overnight campground. Visitors come for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The lake supports largemouth bass, bream, catfish, and crappie. Nearby trails include the Coldwater River Nature Trail System and Swinging Bridge Nature Trail. Note: Arkabutla Lake is experiencing substantially lower water levels during long-term dam repairs. Most boat ramps are closed, with only Highway 51 Landing currently open.
