Open year-round with reservations through Recreation.gov. Arkabutla Lake is experiencing substantially lower water levels due to long-term dam repairs. Most campground facilities remain operational, but boating access is limited with only Hwy. 51 Landing boat ramp currently open.

AQAMEG The Shelby County Health Department has issued a Code Orange Ozone Forecast effective for Shelby County Tennessee, Crittenden County Arkansas, and DeSoto County Mississippi, including the city of Memphis for today. This ozone forecast is due to forecasted ozone values that will be unhealthy for sensitive groups. These values will exceed the Environmental Protection Agency's federal safe health standard. The Shelby County Health Department recommends that sensitive groups which include active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, limit prolonged outdoor exertion. About
Hernando Point Recreation Area occupies a scenic stretch of waterfront along Arkabutla Lake in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The Corps of Engineers dam project sits on the Coldwater River and creates excellent recreational opportunities. The campground features 83 family sites spread through a shaded landscape of oak, hickory, beech, sweet gum, and birch trees, with many sites offering lakefront views. All sites include electric hookups (50 amp) and water connections, with paved driveways accommodating RVs up to 55 feet depending on the site. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides flush restrooms with hot showers, drinking water throughout, and a dump station for RV waste disposal. A small pond with fishing pier, multiple playgrounds, and interpretive trails round out the amenities. The surrounding area offers extensive recreation including the Coldwater River Nature Trail System with hiking and interpretive trails, plus 30,000 acres of wildlife management areas for hunting whitetail deer, wild turkeys, quail, and waterfowl. The Lost Indian Spring Disc Golf Course sits below the dam with 18 free holes.
Directions
From I-55, take the Hernando, Mississippi exit and turn west. Continue to HWY 51 and turn south. Turn west on Wheeler Road and follow signs into campground.
