About

Cumberland Mountain State Park Campground sits on the Cumberland Plateau in Crossville, Tennessee, offering 145 tent and RV campsites with full hookups across five camping areas. The campground was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s as part of a New Deal-era homesteading initiative and features the largest masonry structure built by the CCC. Each campsite includes water, electric service (30 and 50-amp options), standard 110-volt outlets, picnic tables, and grills. Handicap accessible sites and bathhouses are available in Areas 1, 2, 3, and 5, though Area 4 is not ADA accessible. Sites accommodate up to seven adults with either two tents or one tent and one camper. Tents are not permitted on grass in Areas 2, 3, and 5. For backcountry enthusiasts, a primitive overnight campsite is accessible via the Byrd Creek Trail, located on a six-mile loop rated moderate to difficult. The campground requires heat-treated firewood or downed wood collected within the park. Advanced reservations are available up to one year ahead through the Tennessee State Parks system, with a non-refundable $5 reservation fee per site.

Directions

From I-40, take Exit 317 and head south on US Hwy 127 for 9 miles; the park entrance is on the right.
