Pickett State Park Campground
The campground is closed for renovations to the bathhouse and campground facilities. Closure began May 26, 2025 with reopening expected mid-2026. Boat dock and swimming area are also closed for accessibility improvements; personal canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards are permitted during closures.
About
Pickett CCC Memorial State Park Campground sits within one of the most pristine natural areas in Tennessee. The 922-acre park on the Cumberland Plateau showcases unique sandstone formations including natural bridges, rock shelters, and dramatic bluffs. As the first certified Dark Sky Park in the Southeast, the campground offers exceptional stargazing opportunities with minimal light pollution. The campground provides 26 sites, all equipped with water hookups and picnic tables with charcoal grills. Sixteen sites offer 30-amp electric service. A modern bathhouse includes flush toilets, hot water showers, and coin laundry. A dump station serves RV campers. The park is adjacent to the 20,887-acre Pickett State Forest and Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, providing access to extensive hiking trails, swimming at Arch Lake, boating, and fishing.
Directions
From I-40, take Exit 317 and travel north on Highway 127 for 46 miles. Turn right on Highway 154 and continue 12 miles to the park entrance.
