About
Obey River Park is a spacious Corps of Engineers campground situated on the shores of Dale Hollow Lake in the hills of Tennessee. As the largest camping area on the lake, it offers 123 single-party campsites, four group camping sites, and two large group picnic shelters. The campground provides the most visited swimming beach on Dale Hollow Lake, along with basketball courts and playgrounds for family recreation. The campground accommodates various camping styles with paved RV sites, gravel sites for RVs and tents, and tent-only areas. Most sites feature electric and water hookups, with some offering 50-amp service. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, and a dump station. Sites are spread throughout the park, with many offering lakefront locations. Dale Hollow Lake is renowned for yielding the world record smallmouth bass and continues to be a premier destination for trophy smallmouth fishing. The Obey River below the dam offers excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing. With 27,700 surface acres of water and 620 miles of shoreline, the lake provides ample space for boating, water skiing, and exploration. The area is also known for wintering American Bald Eagles and migrating sandhill cranes. The campground is conveniently located near Sunset Marina and the communities of Byrdstown and Pall Mall, which offer historic sites including the Cordell Hull Birthplace and Sergeant Alvin York Home Place.
