Sycamore Equestrian Camp And Shelter

Open — The campground is currently open for reservations year-round. Reservations can be made through Ohio State Parks' reservation system.

About

Located at Sycamore State Park in Montgomery County, the Sycamore Equestrian Camp offers a dedicated camping experience for horseback riders exploring Ohio's scenic trails. The campground features 15 primitive campsites equipped with tie-ups for horses, potable water, pit toilets, and a horse wash station. Campers must bring their own rope for highlines. The park provides access to six trails totaling 21 miles that traverse second-generation forests, wooded savannas, and meadows. The trails feature natural surfaces with gentle rolling hills and shallow creek crossings. The park is named for the huge sycamore trees that line Wolf Creek. The equestrian trails are maintained by volunteers from the Ohio Horseman's Council in cooperation with park management. Sycamore State Park, dedicated as a state park in 1979, offers a wooded oasis within expansive farmland west of Dayton. In addition to horseback riding, the 2,384-acre park provides opportunities for hiking, fishing, and other outdoor recreation.
