About

Hopewell Backpack Camp offers a primitive backcountry experience within Ohio's Caesar Creek State Park. The hike-in site sits in the valley carved by Caesar Creek, where the waterway has exposed dramatic limestone cliffs and ancient Ordovician rock formations rich with fossils. The surrounding landscape mixes rolling woodlands with meadows and provides access to scenic features like Horseshoe Falls. The camp is located near the Hopewell Day Lodge off Middletown Road and Clarksville Road. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, but no potable water or restroom facilities are available on site. Campers must pack in all water and supplies. The primitive setting means limited to no cell service. Reservations are available through Reserve Ohio up to six months in advance. The park's 13-mile backpack trail connects to this area, making it a strategic overnight stop for those completing longer treks through the park's extensive trail system.
