About

Lumsden Campground occupies a scenic spot on the banks of the Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River, approximately one mile from South Fork Campground and two miles from Lumsden Bridge Campground in the Tuolumne-Lumsden Recreation Area. The low-elevation setting features pine and oak forest, providing access to river activities including fishing and kayaking. This is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground with basic amenities. Each site includes a picnic table, bear box, and campfire pit with grill. A vault toilet serves the campground. There is no potable water; campers can filter water from the river but must treat it before drinking. Sites accommodate up to 6 people with a 14-day maximum stay. Access is via Lumsden Road (Forest Route 1N01), a steep and winding road that is not recommended for RVs or trailers. The road is seasonally closed from December 15 to April 15 and may close during inclement weather.
