Sunrise Cabin offers a unique opportunity to experience the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests while enjoying many conveniences of home. This spacious two-story cabin spans over 2,500 square feet with beautiful wooden floors throughout, four bedrooms accommodating up to eight guests, and two full bathrooms. The fully equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, and sink, though guests must bring their own bedding, towels, and cleaning supplies as the cabin is not professionally cleaned between renters. The cabin sits at 2,500 feet elevation with a large grassy lawn meeting dense pine and hardwood forest. The front deck provides outstanding mountain views of the Blue Ridge Highlands Region. Outside, guests can enjoy a small patio with a grill and firepit area. Note that the indoor fireplace and wood stove are currently inoperable and there is no alternative heat source or air conditioning. Recreation opportunities abound with the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail located directly across from the cabin, offering 68 miles of trails through Appalachian mountains and valleys. New River Trail State Park is less than 5 miles away, paralleling 39 miles of the ancient New River with opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing, tubing, canoeing, and kayaking.

Directions

From I-81, take exit 80 (Fort Chiswell) and go south on US 52 for about 1 mile. Turn right and drive south on VA 94 for about 12 miles to the intersection of the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. Turn right onto a gravel road marked with orange diamonds (Cha Cha Ridge Road). About 0.3 miles down, bear right onto the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. A short distance later, turn left at the Sunrise Cabin sign.
