About

Located at the foothills of the Bear Lodge Mountain Range in Wyoming, Sundance Horse Camp is a premier equestrian campground in Black Hills National Forest. The campground features 8 traditional campsites with large parking areas specifically designed to accommodate trucks with horse trailers. Horse facilities include corrals, feed bunks, metal hitching rails, and an accessible rider loading ramp. The campground provides direct access to the secluded Sundance Trail System, where trails weave through a network of densely forested canyons and open ridges. Some ridge tops offer views of the historic Custer Expedition Route, Devils Tower National Monument, and the Twin Missouri Buttes. Trails are maintained for hiking, horseback riding, and bicycling, with no motorized vehicles allowed. Following a 2025 renovation, all sites now meet federal accessibility requirements. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Potable water and vault toilets are available on-site. Certified weed-free hay is required, and out-of-state horses need a current Coggins test.
