About

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Group Campground offers a spacious group camping experience in the Mayacamas Mountains of Sonoma County. The site can accommodate up to 50 people and 20 vehicles, making it ideal for family reunions, scout troops, or organized group outings. The partially shaded area features 12-17 picnic tables, large BBQs, a fire ring, water faucets, and vault toilets. The group campground sits at approximately 1,200 feet elevation near Sonoma Creek and is adjacent to the Robert Ferguson Observatory, operated by volunteers offering public astronomy programs. The Lower Bald Mountain Trail and other hiking opportunities are nearby, with over 25 miles of trails throughout the park leading to scenic vistas and seasonal waterfalls. Dogs are allowed in the campground area but are prohibited on trails, dirt roads, and backcountry areas. Reservations are required for the group campground and can be made through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance.
