About

Oak Shores Day Use Area sits along the western shore of Lake Berryessa, nestled between Blue Ridge and Cedar Roughs east of Napa Valley. The Bureau of Reclamation manages this free public recreation area, which offers six large group shade shelters spread across three beach areas: Acorn Beach, Foxtail Flat, and Coyote Beach. Each shelter accommodates groups of up to 50 people and can be reserved through Recreation.gov for $25 per day, or used first-come, first-served if unreserved. The area provides swimming access, shoreline fishing, wildlife viewing, and picnicking. Amenities include vault restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables, and barbecue grills. The 2.6-mile Smittle Creek Trail connects Oak Shores to the adjacent Smittle Creek Day Use Area. Free life jacket borrowing is available for children and adults. This is strictly a day-use facility. Overnight camping is prohibited, and gates close daily. Open fires are not permitted; only the provided barbecue grills may be used. Glass containers, fireworks, unleashed pets, and trailers are also prohibited.
