About
Putah Canyon Campground is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Berryessa in Napa County, approximately half a mile north of Pope Canyon Road on Berryessa Knoxville Road. The campground features 160 sites, with about three-quarters offering waterfront access where campers can moor their boats, kayaks, or paddleboards directly below their site. The lake, created by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1957, boasts 165 miles of shoreline and excellent fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, catfish, and rainbow trout.
The campground operates year-round and offers RV sites, standard campsites, tent-only sites, and a group site that accommodates up to 40 people. During peak season (May through October), advance reservations are available through Recreation.gov, while first-come, first-served sites are offered year-round. The campground provides a boat launch, watercraft rentals, a camp store, and is staffed by Royal Elk Park Management. Popular activities include boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. The location is about 45 minutes from both Winters and Napa, making it an ideal quick getaway destination.
