Open — Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. No advance reservations for regular campsites. Off-season rates apply from the first Monday in December through March 31. Maximum stay is 14 nights per 30-day period.

Strouds Run State Park Campground provides a peaceful primitive camping experience in the rugged hills of Athens County, Ohio. The campground features 57 first-come, first-served campsites that accommodate tents, campers, and RVs, though no electric or water hookups are available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with water spigots distributed throughout the campground and a dump station at the entrance. Two camper cabins with bunk beds are available by reservation, as is a group camp area that can accommodate up to 150 guests. The campground's location offers direct access to over 15 miles of hiking trails, 8.5 miles of bridle trails, and numerous mountain biking routes that wind through more than 2,600 acres of uninterrupted hardwood forest. Dow Lake provides opportunities for swimming at the 900-foot sand beach, fishing, and non-motorized boating. The park's rugged terrain features rocky bluffs, scenic vistas, and secluded waterfalls, making it a favorite wilderness escape for Ohio University students and outdoor enthusiasts. The concessionaire-operated campground maintains a quiet, technology-free atmosphere that attracts many repeat visitors seeking solitude and nature immersion.

Directions

From Athens, Ohio, take East State Street to Strouds Run Road (County Road 20). Follow Strouds Run Road for approximately 3 miles to the park entrance. The campground is located within the park, with signs directing visitors to the camping area.
