About

Lake Hope State Park Campground lies entirely within the 26,824-acre Zaleski State Forest in the valley of Big Sandy Run, offering a rugged, heavily forested setting traversed by steep gorges and narrow ridges. The 187-site campground accommodates both tent and trailer camping, with 46 sites featuring electric hookups (30 and 50 amp service) and 141 primitive sites scattered through the wooded terrain. Modern amenities include heated showerhouses with flush toilets on either end of the campground, pit latrines and potable water spigots distributed throughout, an RV dump station, and laundry facilities. Every campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. The on-site general store sells firewood, supplies, and souvenirs, while the Stone Terrace Restaurant in the rustic lodge offers dining. Specialty accommodations include 3 Rent-A-Camp units, 2 camper cabins, and a Rent-A-Teepee. The park centers around Lake Hope, a 120-acre impoundment where campers can fish for bluegill, catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass, swim at the 600-foot beach, or boat with electric motors. Historic Hope Furnace ruins and extensive hiking trails including connections to the Zaleski State Forest bridle trails provide additional recreation. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, sledding, and ice fishing.
