About

Forked Run State Park Campground is situated in the forested hill country of southeastern Ohio, approximately in Meigs County near the Ohio River. The campground sits on ridges overlooking the scenic valley of Forked Run Lake, a 102-acre body of water created in 1952 when the park opened to the public. The park was carved from the adjacent Shade River State Forest beginning in 1951. The main campground offers approximately 81 RV sites, with 68 sites providing electrical hookups. Sites feature paved pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. The campground is characterized by its forested setting, though tree coverage provides limited privacy between sites. The park's rural Appalachian location offers scenic vistas and a quiet atmosphere, though cellular service is poor throughout the campground. Beyond camping, the park provides access to a swimming beach on the lake, boat ramps for fishing and paddling, hiking trails, picnic facilities, a playground, and a disc golf course. The park's location in the heart of Appalachia provides opportunities to explore the region's colorful history and observe abundant wildlife in a forested hill country setting.
