About

Strayhorn Landing is located on a scenic peninsula on Tenkiller Ferry Lake in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The campground provides 40 campsites with 30-amp electric hookups, including two ADA-accessible sites, along with three group shelters available for day use. Modern facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, water hydrants, a dump station, swim beach, playground, and boat ramps. An adjacent marina offers concessions, boat rentals, and additional amenities. Tenkiller Ferry Lake is known as Oklahoma's clear water paradise, sourced by the Illinois River and Baron Fork. The 12,500-acre lake features 130 miles of shoreline surrounded by dense oak-hickory forests, tall bluffs, and rolling hills. The lake's clear waters and high visibility make it ideal for scuba diving, while prevailing winds and secluded coves create excellent sailing conditions. Fishing is productive for black bass, white bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The area is also part of a migratory bird flyway, attracting bald eagles, common loons, and white pelicans, along with abundant deer and turkey. Nearby attractions include Tenkiller State Park with its nature center and scuba diving park, Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, and Tahlequah, the capital of the Cherokee Nation. The upper Illinois River near Tahlequah offers canoeing and rafting, while the lower Illinois near Gore features one of only two year-round trout fisheries in Oklahoma.
