Pettit Bay Campground occupies a prime location on the western shore of Tenkiller Ferry Lake in the Ozark Mountain foothills of northeastern Oklahoma. The 12,500-acre reservoir, fed by the Illinois River and Baron Fork, is renowned for its exceptional water clarity and serves as a destination for boating, water skiing, swimming, and scuba diving. The campground attracts returning visitors year after year with its well-maintained facilities and convenient lake access. The USACE-operated facility features approximately 92 campsites divided between two loops. Site options include primitive non-electric sites, standard electric sites with 30 amp service, and premium sites with 50 amp electric plus full water and sewer hookups. All sites accommodate tents and RVs, with some sites accepting rigs up to 66 feet. Two comfort stations provide flush toilets and hot showers, and a dump station serves RV campers. Fishing is excellent for black bass, white bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The tailwater below Tenkiller Dam supports one of only two year-round rainbow trout fisheries in Oklahoma. The nearby city of Tahlequah, capital of the Cherokee Nation, offers cultural attractions and services. The upper Illinois River near Tahlequah provides popular canoeing and rafting.

Directions

From Tahlequah, OK, go 8.25 miles south on Highway 82, turn right on Indian Road and go two miles south. Then turn left and go one mile southeast on the paved access road.
