About
Cherokee Landing State Park is a 146-acre Oklahoma state park located on a peninsula jutting into Lake Tenkiller in the Cookson Hills, about 14 miles south of Tahlequah. The park offers exceptional access to one of Oklahoma's clearest lakes, known for excellent bass, crappie, and catfish fishing. The campground features a mix of RV and tent sites spread across the peninsula, with the Creek RV area providing concrete pads, water, electric hookups, fire rings, picnic tables, and BBQ grills.
The park accommodates RVs up to 40 feet and offers multiple amperage options including 50-amp service. Facilities include modern restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, swimming beach, lighted boat ramp, and a handicapped-accessible fishing dock. Recreation options extend beyond the water with a 9-hole disc golf course, outdoor volleyball court, playground, softball field, and the Red Fox hiking trail featuring spring wildflowers and birding opportunities including migratory cranes.
The south end of the park can be subject to flooding during high water events, so RV camping is restricted to the north end during such conditions. The park is situated within Cherokee Nation territory and provides a quieter alternative to the busier recreation areas further south on Lake Tenkiller.
