About

Storrie Lake State Park offers a high-desert camping experience on the shores of a 1,100-acre reservoir in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. Located just four miles north of Las Vegas, New Mexico, the park provides 45 developed campsites spread across six campground areas: North Campground, South Loop (electric and non-electric sections), River Campground, and Gallinas River sites. Twenty-two sites feature 30-amp electric and water hookups, while primitive camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The lake draws anglers pursuing rainbow trout, bass, catfish, and walleye. Consistent afternoon winds make it one of New Mexico's premier windsurfing destinations. Bird watchers appreciate the wetland habitat attracting waterfowl and shorebirds. The visitor center houses exhibits on area history and wildlife. Amenities include vault toilets, an RV dump station, picnic tables, fire rings, and multiple ADA-accessible sites. The park operates year-round with seasonal gate hours: 6 AM-9 PM April through September, 7 AM-7 PM October through March. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica up to six months in advance.
