About
Villanueva State Park occupies a dramatic stretch of the Pecos River canyon about 30 miles south of Las Vegas, New Mexico. The campground provides 36 developed sites spread across several loops, with 12 sites offering electric hookups (20/30/50 amp) and water connections. The park can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet on most sites, with some pull-through sites available. Equestrian camping is offered at designated sites, and a group shelter accommodates day-use gatherings. Facilities include modern restrooms with flush toilets, a bath house with showers, and vault toilets in some areas. An RV dump station operates daily from 9am to 2pm for a $10 fee. The visitor center offers interpretive programs about the area's cultural and natural history. First-come, first-served sites are available year-round, with seasonal availability varying by campground section. The Pecos River provides excellent fishing opportunities, and the surrounding red sandstone cliffs feature hiking trails and petroglyph sites. Life jackets are required on all watercraft and flotation devices on the river. Park gates close at 7pm October through March and 9pm April through September, with quiet hours from 10pm to 7am.
Directions
