About

E.V. Long Campground sits along Gallinas Creek in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, offering a classic high-country camping experience amid Ponderosa pines and mixed conifer forest. The 14 sites accommodate both tent and RV camping on a first-come, first-served basis, with each site providing a table, fire ring, and grill. Three vault toilets serve the campground, and trash bins are provided. The campground is situated 14 miles from Las Vegas, New Mexico via Highway 65 and Forest Road 263, placing it within easy reach of hiking trails and stream fishing opportunities along Gallinas Creek. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground has no hookups, dump station, or showers, maintaining its primitive character. Restrictions include no horses or horse trailers, no ATVs, a three-vehicle limit per site, and quiet hours from 10pm to 7am. The typical operating season runs May through October, weather permitting.
