Store Gulch Guard Station is a preserved historic landmark and is not available for overnight camping or rental. For overnight stays in this area, see nearby Store Gulch Campground.

About

Store Gulch Guard Station is a historic structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1929, representing early Forest Service architecture in the Pacific Northwest. Located approximately 9 miles west of Selma, Oregon on Illinois River Road (Forest Road 4103), the guard station sits directly across from Store Gulch Picnic Site along the Wild and Scenic Illinois River corridor. Unlike other guard stations in Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest that have been converted to rental cabins (such as Big Elk Guard Station or Imnaha Guard Station), Store Gulch Guard Station is preserved primarily as a historic landmark and is not available for overnight stays. Visitors seeking overnight accommodations in this area should consider nearby Store Gulch Campground, which offers 6 primitive campsites. The adjacent Store Gulch Picnic Site provides day-use facilities including vault toilets and beach access via a quarter-mile trail to the Illinois River. No potable water is available in the area, and visitors must pack out all trash.
