About

River Bench Campground is situated on a lower river terrace along the scenic Illinois River in the Wild Rivers Ranger District of Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. This primitive walk-in campground requires a short hike down from the parking area via one of two access trails to reach its 8 campsites nestled within a forested setting. The campground offers a peaceful, natural experience for visitors willing to carry their gear to the sites. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire pit, but campers must be self-sufficient as the campground provides no drinking water and no trash service. A vault toilet is available within walking distance of the campsites, with restrooms and information boards also located at the upper parking area. The Illinois River provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, and enjoying the natural beauty of this Wild and Scenic River corridor. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and visitors are limited to a 14-day stay. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. The camping fee is $10 per night per site, with a 50% discount available for holders of Interagency Senior or Access passes.

Directions

From Selma, OR, take Highway 199 to the turn for Illinois River Road 4301. Take that road approximately 7 miles to the campground. Parking is located above the campsites with trails leading down to the sites.
