About

River Bench Campground sits on a lower river terrace along the scenic Illinois River in Oregon's Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The 8 walk-in campsites are nestled within a forested setting, offering a more secluded camping experience than typical drive-in campgrounds. Two access trails lead down from the upper parking area to the sites. This is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground with basic amenities. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit, and a vault toilet is located within walking distance. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. The campground is popular with anglers and those seeking a quieter riverside retreat. Quiet hours are observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the maximum stay is 14 days. Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash. Campfires are permitted only in the provided fire pits.

Directions

From Selma, OR, take Highway 199 to the turn for Illinois River Road 4301. Travel approximately 7 miles to the campground. Parking is located above the campsites with trail access down to the sites.
