About
Located approximately 9 miles from Selma along Forest Road 4301 (Illinois River Road), Store Gulch Campground offers a peaceful retreat along the Wild and Scenic Illinois River. This small, lightly-used campground features 4 standard campsites and 2 walk-in sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. The riverside setting provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, and enjoying the natural beauty of this protected waterway. The campground is primitive by design, with vault toilets but no drinking water, electricity, or trash service. Visitors must bring their own water and pack out all garbage. The remote location and limited facilities make this an ideal spot for campers seeking solitude and a true wilderness experience. The Illinois River's designation as Wild and Scenic ensures the area's pristine character is preserved for future generations. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and campfires are only permitted in the provided fire pits. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash. The maximum stay is 14 days, and the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis at $10 per night, with an additional $5 fee for extra vehicles.
