About

Stony Point Campground is located on the shores of Leech Lake in the heart of Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest. The campground sits in an open, grassy area surrounded by old-growth forest with oak, elm, maple, and ash trees, some over 200 years old. Leech Lake spans more than 112,000 acres with nearly 200 miles of shoreline, making it Minnesota's third-largest lake. The campground offers sites with 30-amp electric hookups and one walk-to tent site. Facilities include flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. A boat ramp and dock provide direct lake access for boating and fishing. Anglers can pursue walleye, perch, bass, northern pike, and muskie, with the potential for trophy-sized catches. Campers frequently hear the distinctive calls of loons echoing across the water. Miles of scenic hiking trails are accessible from the area, including the Paul Bunyan State Trail, Heartland Trail, Soo Line Trail, and the North Country National Scenic Trail. The popular tourist town of Walker, Minnesota, is located approximately 14 miles west, offering restaurants, shops, and seasonal festivals.
