About

South Pike Bay Campground occupies a scenic spur along the south shore of Pike Bay on Cass Lake within the Chippewa National Forest. The 23 non-electric campsites are nestled in a pleasant stand of mixed hardwoods and old growth pine, with some sites situated directly on the beautiful sand beach. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and vault toilets are available. Recreation opportunities abound here. The on-site boat ramp provides direct access to Cass Lake for boating, canoeing, water skiing, and swimming. Anglers target walleye, northern pike, perch, and trophy muskie. The campground is also a trailhead for the Migizi Bike Trail, a 14-mile paved route along the lakeshore open to biking, walking, and rollerblading. For paddlers, South Pike Bay serves as a portage point on the 128-mile Chippewa Headwaters Loop Canoe Route, considered the most challenging waterway in the forest with six portages. The town of Cass Lake is six miles northwest, offering restaurants, grocery stores, and other services.
