About

South Pike Bay Campground sits on the south shore of Pike Bay on Cass Lake in north central Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest. The campground features 23 non-electric campsites arranged along a long spur stretching along the shoreline, set among a pleasant stand of mixed hardwoods and old growth pine. Several campsites are positioned directly on a beautiful sand beach, offering prime waterfront access. The campground serves as an excellent base for water recreation, including boating, canoeing, water skiing, and swimming. Anglers can fish Pike Bay's 4,670 acres for walleye, northern pike, perch, and trophy muskie, with a concrete boat ramp located within the campground. The on-site trailhead for the Migizi Bike Trail provides access to 14 miles of paved trail along the lakeshore, open to biking, walking, and rollerblading. South Pike Bay is also a portage point for the historic 128-mile Chippewa Headwaters Loop Canoe Route, considered the most difficult paddling route in the forest with six portages. The town of Cass Lake is six miles northwest, offering restaurants, grocery stores, and other services. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From Cass Lake, travel 3 miles south on Highway 371. Turn east onto Forest Road 2137 and travel 2 miles to the campground.
