Stony Fork Cabin is a fully equipped one-bedroom log cabin nestled at the foot of Big Walker Mountain at an elevation of 2,400 feet within Jefferson National Forest. The 900 square foot cabin features oak hardwood floors, a complete kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, oven, toaster, and coffee maker, a full bathroom, and a living and dining area. It sleeps up to four guests with two twin beds in the bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living area. Additional amenities include a washer and dryer, private patio, picnic table, and campfire ring with grate. The cabin has electricity and drinking water but no air conditioning, phone, or television. Located within Stony Fork Campground along the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway, the cabin sits creekside beside the East Fork of Stony Fork Creek, which is stocked with trout and provides a peaceful soundtrack of running water. The area offers exceptional hiking opportunities, including the challenging Seven Sisters Trail that leads from the campground to the top of Little Walker Mountain, and the legendary Appalachian Trail located within 10 miles. A one-mile nature trail winds through pine and hardwood stands directly from the campground. The Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway provides spectacular views of rhododendron, azalea, and mountain laurel blooms in spring, and vibrant fall foliage. Guests are responsible for bringing their own bed linens, towels, cleaning supplies, and trash bags, as the cabin is not professionally cleaned between rentals.
Directions
From I-77 take Exit 47, turn left onto Route 717 (Krenning Road) and follow for 4 miles to Stony Fork Campground on the left. The cabin is located inside the campground at 109 Krenning Road, approximately 10 miles north of Wytheville, VA.
