* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of North Carolina, including the following areas, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin and Virginia, including the following areas, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Buckingham, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A slow moving front will focus a west to east moving area of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Stony Fork Cabin is a cozy one-bedroom hideaway with most of the comforts of home, located within Stony Fork Campground along the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway in Jefferson National Forest. The 900 square foot log cabin sits at 2,400 feet elevation with a creekside setting along the East Fork of Stony Fork Creek. The cabin features oak hardwood floors, a living area with sleeper sofa, fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and cookware, plus a full bathroom with shower/bathtub and washer/dryer. Outside, guests enjoy a private patio with picnic table and campfire ring with grill. The cabin accommodates up to four guests and two vehicles. Renters must bring their own bed linens, pillows, towels, and cleaning supplies. The cabin does not have air conditioning, phone, or television. Recreation abounds with the Appalachian Trail within 10 miles, the Seven Sisters Trail departing from the campground, and stocked trout fishing in the creek. The Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway offers spectacular views of rhododendron and mountain laurel blooms in spring and vibrant foliage in fall.
Directions
From I-77, take Exit 47. Turn left onto Route 717 (Krenning Road) and follow for 4 miles. Stony Fork Campground is on the left. The cabin is located inside the campground at 109 Krenning Road, approximately 10 miles north of Wytheville, VA.
