About

Blue Springs Gap Cabin is perched on a mountaintop in southwest Virginia's Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, providing a secluded retreat with dramatic views of Appalachian peaks and valleys. The single-story cabin features three bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with a full bunk, and one with a twin bunk), accommodating up to eight people. Modern amenities include electricity, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave, and a bathroom with flush toilet during the main season. The wrap-around porch with swing offers an ideal spot to take in the mountain scenery. The cabin is located in the 200,000-acre Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, which encompasses four wilderness areas, the Virginia Creeper Trail, and the Mount Rogers Scenic Byway. Hale Lake sits just 2 miles away, offering fishing and a 0.58-mile loop trail popular for bird watching. Nearby trout streams provide additional angling opportunities. The area is renowned for its fall foliage and wildlife viewing, including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and migratory birds. Guests must bring all drinking, cooking, and washing water, as none is available at the cabin. Limited cookware and utensils are provided, but no linens, blankets, or pillows are supplied. The stone fireplace is inoperable and there is no heating or air conditioning. Access requires a high-clearance vehicle, as VA Route 798 is not suitable for low-clearance vehicles. The cabin operates seasonally with reservations available through Recreation.gov.
