About

Davis Farm Campsite is a primitive overnight site along the Appalachian Trail in Tazewell County, Virginia, within the Jefferson National Forest. The campsite lies approximately half a mile off the main AT corridor, accessed via a steep switchback descent. The site itself occupies a flattened area on a hillside slope that can accommodate two to three tents. The campsite faces west, providing excellent views of the pastoral valley below and memorable sunset vistas. The surrounding area borders agricultural land, so hikers may hear cattle in the valley. This is a true backcountry experience with no amenities: no drinking water, no restrooms, and no trash service. All water must be packed in or sourced and purified from natural sources along the trail. As with other AT overnight sites in the Southern Region, stays are limited to three consecutive days within any 30-day period. There is no fee and no reservation system; the site operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round.

Directions

From the Appalachian Trail, follow the blue-blazed side trail 0.5 miles downhill via steep switchbacks to reach the campsite.
