About

Joseph Stewart State Park Campground overlooks Lost Creek Lake along the scenic Rogue River in Jackson County, Oregon. The recreation area offers year-round camping with over 200 campsites surrounded by large conifer trees and mountain views, with many sites providing electric hookups for RVs. The campground features hot showers, a fenced off-leash pet area, playgrounds, and an RV dump station. The park provides extensive recreational opportunities with 11 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking that connect the campground to the day-use area and link to the U.S. Forest Service's Upper Rogue River Trail, which connects with the Pacific Crest Trail. A swim beach offers access to the cool mountain waters of Lost Creek Lake, while anglers can fish for trout and bass. The Joseph Stewart Resort, located in the day-use area and accessible via family-friendly bike paths, features a marina with boat rentals and moorage, plus a camp store and café that typically operate mid-April through October. Situated approximately 40 miles from Crater Lake National Park and 35 miles northeast of Medford on Highway 62, the campground serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the Southern Oregon Cascades and surrounding wilderness areas. As of April 2021, the park is managed by Jackson County Parks rather than Oregon State Parks.
