About
Star of The West Campground on Lake Greeson is a rustic, first-come, first-served camping area located where the Little Missouri River feeds into the lake. The campground features 12 non-electric campsites surrounded by loblolly pine, shortleaf pine, sweet gum, and oak trees. Potable water is available at two hydrants, and the nearest boat ramp access is at 70 Landing Marina or Arrowhead Point Campground.
Lake Greeson spans approximately 12 miles with over 7,260 surface acres of clear, cool water fed by the Little Missouri River. The lake is recognized for its rich variety of game fish, including largemouth, smallmouth, striped, spotted, and white bass, as well as flathead and channel catfish, black and white crappie, walleye, and bluegill. The clear waters provide excellent opportunities for water skiing, tubing, personal watercraft, and general boating. Four marinas around the lake offer fuel, boat rentals, and supplies.
The public lands around Lake Greeson provide diverse habitats for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, geese, bald eagles, migratory waterfowl, and songbirds. Nearby attractions include the Bear Creek Cycle Trail for off-road cycling and Crater of Diamonds State Park, the only diamond-producing site in the world open to the public, located within a 50-mile drive.
