About
Star of the West Campground occupies a scenic location on Lake Greeson where the clear, cool waters of the Little Missouri River flow into the lake. The campground offers 12 non-electric sites in a lightly developed setting with basic amenities including potable water from two hydrants, vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and pedestal grills at each site.
Lake Greeson spans over 7,260 surface acres and is recognized for its rich variety of game fish including largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, striped, and white bass, along with flathead and channel catfish, black and white crappie, walleye, and bluegill. The nearest boat ramp access is at 70 Landing Marina or Arrowhead Point Campground. Four marinas around the lake offer fuel, boat rentals, and supplies.
The surrounding landscape features loblolly pine, shortleaf pine, sweet gum, and oak on the uplands, with bottomland hardwoods along waterways. The area supports white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bald eagles, and migratory waterfowl. Crater of Diamonds State Park and the Bear Creek Cycle Trail are both within driving distance.
