About
Self Creek and Jim Wylie Campgrounds are located just off US Highway 70 on Lake Greeson, a 12-mile-long reservoir fed by the Little Missouri River in southwest Arkansas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates the combined 72-site campground, split between the Self Creek section (sites 1-46) and Jim Wylie section (sites 47-72). Self Creek offers 15 electric sites with 20/30-amp service, while Jim Wylie provides electric hookups at all sites, with one full-hookup site featuring water and sewer connections.
Amenities include flush restrooms with hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, picnic tables, and grills at each site. The Self Creek area features a swim beach and playground, making it popular with families. The Self Creek Boat Ramp provides convenient lake access for fishing and boating enthusiasts.
Lake Greeson is known for excellent fishing, with largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, striped, and white bass, along with channel and flathead catfish, crappie, walleye, and bluegill. The clear water supports water skiing, tubing, and personal watercraft. The surrounding uplands of loblolly and shortleaf pine, sweetgum, and oak provide habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bald eagles, and migratory waterfowl. Crater of Diamonds State Park lies within a 40-mile drive.
