About

Grandjean Campground occupies a scenic location in old growth ponderosa pine forest near the border of the Sawtooth Wilderness and Boise National Forest. The campground's 31 first-come, first-served sites provide a base for exploring one of Idaho's premier wilderness areas. The Idaho Centennial Trail departs from the campground, following the Payette River south into a spectacular alpine basin filled with glacial lakes and granite peaks. The campground accommodates both traditional campers and equestrians, with 10 sites designated for horse camping. Sawtooth Lodge, located one mile away, offers horse trips into the wilderness. Natural hot springs are accessible 1.5 miles from the campground, providing a welcome soak after a day of hiking. The area is renowned for its access to Sawtooth Wilderness trails, including routes to Sawtooth Lake and the broader alpine lake region. Due to its remote location at 6,200 feet elevation, the campground operates seasonally and typically closes by late September. The site offers vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and fire pits. Visitors must pack out all trash as no collection service is provided. The 10-day occupancy limit within 30 days applies throughout the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
