About

St Lucie South Campground provides a relaxing camping experience on the St. Lucie Canal in Martin County, Florida, approximately 25 miles east of Lake Okeechobee. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this waterfront campground offers RV sites, tent sites, and unique cruiser sites where boaters can dock overnight and camp on their vessels. The campground is surrounded by tropical vegetation and sits along the Okeechobee Waterway, where campers can watch boats and occasional manatees pass through the nearby St. Lucie Lock. The St. Lucie Nature Trail on the north side of the canal provides hiking opportunities, though the walkway across the lock is currently closed due to construction. Fishing and boating on the St. Lucie Canal and the south fork of the St. Lucie River are popular activities. Nearby attractions include Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge for birdwatching, the beaches of Hutchinson Island, and the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce. The city of Stuart is just down the road with restaurants and shopping.
