Watsadler Campground is one of Hartwell Lake's most popular camping destinations, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The 36-acre campground features a dense canopy of pine and mixed hardwoods, providing ample shade for the 51 campsites. All sites offer water and 50-amp electric hookups, with a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations accommodating vehicles up to 50 feet on select sites. The campground provides solid amenities including three comfort stations (two with showers), a dump station, and dumpsters throughout. A boat ramp and courtesy dock provide direct lake access for anglers and boaters. Hartwell Lake is known for excellent fishing including largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. Two playgrounds serve families with children. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov, with check-in at 3 p.m. and checkout at 2 p.m. Gates open at 7 a.m. and lock at 10 p.m. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights within any 30-day period. Pets are permitted on a leash no longer than 6 feet but prohibited on swim beaches and playgrounds.

Directions

From I-85 North in Georgia, take exit 177 onto Highway 77 towards Hartwell. In Hartwell, take Hwy 29 North towards Anderson, SC. Continue approximately 4 miles, turn left onto Watsadler Road; entrance is a short distance on the right. From I-85 South in South Carolina, take exit 14 (Hwy 187) and follow to the 4-way stop with Hwy 29. Turn right onto Hwy 29 towards Hartwell. After crossing into Georgia, continue approximately 1.5 miles and turn right onto Watsadler Road.
