Singing Pines
Closed — Day-use area and picnic shelters closed for the season. Boat ramp remains open year-round. Day-use facilities reopen April 1 through September 30.
Special Weather Statement issued March 23 at 2:44AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Dry brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days due to breezy conditions and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast again today. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for much of the afternoon and evening hours, and wind gusts may reach 25 to 30 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
About
Singing Pines Recreation Area encompasses 42 acres along the shores of Hartwell Lake, a 56,000-acre man-made reservoir on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers bordering Georgia and South Carolina. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this day-use facility experiences high public use during peak season and provides extensive amenities for lake recreation. The site features 57 picnic sites scattered throughout the property, along with two standard picnic shelters equipped with water and electric service and five smaller mini-shelters. Two designated swimming beaches with sand shoreline provide safe areas for swimmers. Anglers can fish from the dedicated fishing pier or launch boats from the single-lane ramp with courtesy dock. The boat ramp provides year-round access to fishing for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass. Two comfort stations, two playground areas, and paved roads and parking areas serve visitors throughout the recreation area. Hartwell Lake's 962 miles of shoreline and surrounding vegetation create ample shade and diverse recreational opportunities. The lake appeals to all types of boaters, from canoeists to motor boaters to water skiers who enjoy the calm coves and smooth water surfaces. The Hartwell Project was originally authorized for hydropower, flood control and navigation, with recreation, water quality, water supply and fish and wildlife management added later.
Directions
