About

Southwest Shore Campground is one of three developed campgrounds surrounding Phillips Lake, a reservoir in the southern Elkhorn Mountains of northeastern Oregon. The campground occupies a warm, open ponderosa pine setting on the lake's southwest shore and typically opens before the other Phillips Lake campgrounds each spring. Popular activities include fishing for trout and bass, boating, hiking the Phillips Lake South Shoreline Trail #1610, and wildlife watching. The lake level fluctuates throughout the season, so the water may be a short hike down from the campground during lower water periods. Each site includes a picnic table, and vault toilets are provided. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site. The campground is operated on a first-come, first-served basis and is managed by a Forest Service concessionaire. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Holders of Interagency Senior or Access passes receive a 50% discount on camping fees.
