McCully Forks Campground occupies a peaceful spot along McCully Creek within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The forested setting provides shade and proximity to the stream, creating a relaxing atmosphere for campers looking to escape into nature. The campground sits along the Elkhorn Drive Scenic Byway, making it an ideal stop for those touring this 106-mile loop through the Blue Mountains. Nearby attractions include the historic gold-mining town of Sumpter (6 miles away), the impressive Sumpter Valley Dredge State Park, and numerous day hiking opportunities in the surrounding Elkhorn Range. Facilities are basic: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available on site. The campground operates seasonally from May through September.

Directions

From Baker City, travel south on State Highway 7 for 26 miles to State Highway 220 (Sumpter Valley Highway). Turn right on Highway 220 and continue 6 miles past the town of Sumpter. The campground entrance is on the right, with sites on both sides of the road and creek.
