About

Situated on the south shore of Phillips Lake in Oregon's Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Millers Lane is the smallest of three campgrounds in the area. The 15-site campground (11 tent/trailer and 4 tent-only) sits in an open ponderosa pine forest, offering a warm, sunny atmosphere for camping. The campground is popular with anglers targeting rainbow trout, bass, crappie, and perch in Phillips Lake. Hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians can access the Phillips Shoreline Trail directly from the campground. Wildlife watching is another draw, with the mixed forest and lake environment attracting diverse species. Amenities are basic: vault toilets and picnic tables at each site, but no potable water or hookups. Campers must bring their own drinking water. Due to the reservoir's fluctuating water levels, the lakeshore may require a short hike from campsites during lower water periods.

Directions

From Baker City, Oregon, travel south on Highway 7 toward John Day for 22 miles. Past the upper end of Phillips Lake, turn left on Hudspeth Lane and go 1.2 miles to Forest Road 2220. Turn left on FR 2220 and go 1.3 miles to the campground entrance on the left.
