About

South Navarre Campground sits at 6,400 feet elevation in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, approximately 35 miles from Chelan via mostly dirt roads. This primitive campground features four campsites with three pit toilets and is designed for visitors seeking a true backcountry experience away from developed facilities. No water or garbage service is available, so campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. The remote location provides access to an extensive trail system including Safety Harbor Creek, Summer Blossom, and Summit Trail. These trails accommodate multiple uses including motorized trail bikes, mountain bikes, hiking, and stock animals. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the surrounding backcountry, though motorized use on trails is limited to trail bikes only. Access requires navigating long stretches of forest roads, either via Gold Creek Road and Grade Creek Road from Pateros, or via Wapato Lake Road and Upper Joe Creek Road from Chelan. The remote location and high elevation make this campground best suited for experienced backcountry visitors with high-clearance vehicles during the summer and fall months when roads are passable.
