About

Safety Harbor Campground is a remote boat-in campground situated on the north shore of Lake Chelan, approximately 5.5 miles up-lake from Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park. Accessible only by boat, this small campground was designed to accommodate up to four tent camping parties with two fire rings, two tables, and one vault toilet. The site historically featured a floating dock with six-boat capacity, but the dock burned in the Twentyfive Mile Fire and has been removed due to post-fire safety hazards. The campground sits at an elevation of 4,320 feet and offers excellent protection from both up-lake and down-lake winds, making it a desirable shelter during windy conditions on Lake Chelan. However, the campground has been closed for camping since 2017 due to the Uno Peak Fire that burned the slopes above the campground. The Forest Service has determined there is high potential for catastrophic flash floods in this area. While the area remains open for day use, visitors should be aware that no dock facilities are available and potable water is not provided. Water can be treated or filtered from the lake. The campground is within Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and falls under the Lake Chelan Federal Dock Site Permit system, though no dock currently exists at this location.

Directions
