About
Deer Point Campground offers a remote backcountry experience on the north shore of Lake Chelan within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Accessible only by boat, the campground sits about 4 miles uplake from Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park and provides a floating dock with space for eight vessels. The site features five tent-only campsites at approximately 1,100 feet elevation, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has two vault toilets but no potable water; campers should plan to filter or treat water from the lake. There are no trash facilities, so visitors must pack out all waste. The location provides protection from down-lake winds, though it is exposed to up-lake winds. Activities include swimming, motorized and non-motorized boating, and exploring the surrounding national forest. A Federal Dock Site Permit is required from May 1 through October 31. Daily permits cost $10, or a season pass is available for $75. Permits can be purchased via Scan and Pay at the dock or at various vendor locations in Chelan and Wenatchee. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards pulling directly onto shore do not require a dock permit.
Directions
From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97 Alternate for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and continue approximately 17 miles to Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park. From the boat launch there, travel approximately 4 miles uplake. Deer Point Campground is on the north shore.
