Seasonal campground at 6,600 ft elevation. Access via Shady Pass Road #5900 depends on snow conditions. Typically accessible from late May or June through October. First-come, first-served with no fees. No potable water available.

About

Junior Point Campground sits at 6,600 feet elevation in the Chelan Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, offering a primitive backcountry camping experience for tent campers. The campground features five designated sites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. A vault toilet is provided, but there is no potable water on site, so campers must pack in all drinking water. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. Its high-elevation location provides panoramic views of the surrounding Cascade terrain and serves as a base for day hiking and mountain biking in the area. The drive-in access via Shady Pass Road #5900 is scenic but requires navigating approximately 15 miles of forest road. Due to its elevation, the campground is seasonal and access depends on snow conditions. The road and campground typically become accessible once snowpack melts in late spring or early summer and remain open through fall until winter snow returns.

Directions

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 20 miles to Shady Pass Road #5900. Turn left up Shady Pass Road and continue 15 miles. Junior Point Campground is on the left.
