About

Junior Point Campground is a remote, high-elevation tent camping destination in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest's Chelan Ranger District. Perched at 6,600 feet in the Chelan Mountains, this primitive campground offers five tent-only sites, each with a campfire ring and picnic table. The campground provides panoramic mountain views and serves as a base for exploring nearby hiking and mountain biking trails. The access road (Shady Pass Road #5900) climbs 15 miles from Southshore Road and typically remains snow-blocked until late June due to the high elevation. There are no fees for camping, no potable water, and only vault toilet facilities. Campers must be self-sufficient and prepared for primitive conditions. The campground's remote location and lack of amenities make it ideal for experienced campers seeking solitude and alpine scenery.

Directions

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 20 miles to Shady Pass Road #5900. Turn left up Shady Pass Road and continue 15 miles. Junior Point Campground is on the left.
