About

South Fork Campground is a small Forest Service campground situated along the South Fork of the Burnt River in eastern Oregon's Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. Reconstructed in 2008 and again in 2019, the campground features 12 tent/trailer sites and 2 tent-only sites tucked beneath cool pine and fir trees. Pull-through parking areas accommodate trailers, and each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground serves as a basecamp for multiple recreation activities. The South Fork of the Burnt River offers stream fishing, while hunters use the area during fall seasons. OHV enthusiasts benefit from direct access to the Blue Mountain OHV Trail system, with the trailhead located across Forest Road 6005 from the campground entrance. Facilities are basic: vault toilets are provided, but potable water may not be available. Campers should bring their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a self-service fee station, though some sites may be reservable through Recreation.gov.
