About

North Fork Malheur Campground sits in a quiet, remote area of the Malheur National Forest near the Wild and Scenic North Fork Malheur River. This small campground has five primitive sites, each equipped with a concrete picnic table and raised fire ring. The parking spurs are compacted dirt and gravel, suitable for tents and smaller camp trailers. Vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available. The campground is popular with anglers targeting rainbow trout in the North Fork Malheur River and serves as an excellent base camp for hunters during fall seasons. The North Fork Malheur Trailhead is located within half a mile, providing access to trails that wind through old-growth ponderosa pine forests along the scenic river corridor. Access requires traveling approximately 34 miles from Prairie City via County Road 62, Forest Road 16, and Forest Road 1675. The final stretch of road is rough and becomes very muddy after periods of rain, making high-clearance vehicles advisable.

Directions
