Lake Wateree State Park Campground is situated on scenic Desportes Island along the shores of the 13,700-acre Lake Wateree reservoir in South Carolina's Midlands region. The campground features 72 paved sites, each equipped with individual water and electrical hookups and a picnic table. Twenty-eight premium sites offer full hookups with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. The campground layout includes 23 coveted waterfront sites providing direct lake views, and 8 pull-through sites for easier maneuvering. Fifty sites can accommodate large RVs up to 40 feet in length, while others accommodate RVs up to 35 feet. The campground provides convenient access to modern restroom facilities with hot showers. For group camping, a primitive area accommodates organized groups up to 50 people with water access, multiple fire rings, and picnic tables. The park serves as a premier destination for Lake Wateree fishing and boating, hosting numerous fishing tournaments throughout the year. On-site amenities include a tackle shop, a two-lane boat ramp with in-water refueling, and a playground. The park's location just off U.S. 21 near Interstate 77 makes it easily accessible from Columbia, Camden, and Rock Hill. Park admission is required separately from camping fees.
